A Hands-On STEM Field Trip Near Washington, DC
Sloomoo Institute is where field trips get slimy (and scientific). Students mix, stretch, and experiment with slime, a non-Newtonian fluid, and walk away knowing more about polymer chemistry than they expected. The whole experience is packed with hands-on STEM fun, and we welcome school groups, homeschool co-ops, scout troops, summer camps, and kindergarten classes. Flexible weekday scheduling and group pricing make it simple.
Located at Tysons Corner Center in Northern Virginia, Sloomoo is one of the most unique indoor activities near Washington, DC, for student groups. From the Slime Gallery and Lake Sloomoo to the DIY Bar, where kids design their own custom slime, every station connects play to science. Sloomoo hosts educational field trips at nine locations across the country, and our DC-area location brings the full Institute experience. What Makes a Sloomoo Field Trip Different?
Most field trips in Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia put kids in museums or behind glass. Sloomoo puts them knee-deep in slime. Students don't just observe science; they get their hands in it. They mix polymers, test viscosity, launch slime from slingshots, and walk barefoot through 300 gallons of slime at Lake Sloomoo. It's a sensory experience and a STEM lesson rolled into one.
Whether you're planning group activities in Washington, DC for a class of 20 or coordinating a grade-wide outing from Fairfax County, Sloomoo scales to fit. Teachers get to sit back while our team runs the show.

Every part of the Sloomoo experience ties to real science concepts. Students work with slime (a non-Newtonian fluid), explore how polymer chains form, and experiment with viscosity, elasticity, and sensory properties. Teachers receive SlooScience facts throughout the visit that connect directly to classroom learning.
Sloomoo welcomes field trips for all ages, from kindergarten through high school. The hands-on, sensory-driven format works for younger students exploring textures for the first time and for older students studying the chemistry of polymers and non-Newtonian fluids. Homeschool groups and mixed-age groups are welcome too.
